In the 42nd IPL Match played at Hyderabad the Mumbai Indians won their sixth game in a row to defeat the Deccan Chargers.

The Deccan Chargers won the toss and choose to field. Jayasuriya hammered 36 in 15 balls and Sachin Tendulkar scored a modest 23 of 19 deliveries. The other contributors were AM Nayar, 38 in 24 balls, and DJ Bravo, 30 in 17 balls to post a score of 178.

The Deccan Chargers could never recover after the fall of their star batsman A Gilchrist. Y Venugopal Rao made a fine 57 of 38 balls. However the Deccan Chargers could make only 153 runs for 7 wickets by the end of 20 overs. Mumbai Indians won the match by 25 runs. Bravo with 3 wickets for 24 was declared the Man of the Match.
