In the 54th IPL match the Chennai Super Kings defeated Deccan Chargers by 7 wickets.

This victory confirmed the entry of Chennai Super Kings in Semi Finals. They will meet the Kings XI Punjab in the semi finals.

Deccan Chargers won the toss and choose to bat first. They lost both the openers with 15 runs on the board. There after steady contributions by Venugopal Rao, 46 in 46 balls and DB Ravi Teja, 40 in 28 balls, saw the Deccan Chargers scoring a total of 147 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 148 the Chennai Super Kings batted well. SK Raina remained not out at 54 in 43 balls. Captain MS Dhoni made 37 in 25 balls. The target was achieved in 19.2 overs with a loss of 3 wickets. The Chennai Super Kings won the match by 7 wickets. SK Raina was the Man of the Match.
