Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor bag honours at IIFA Awards
The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2008 awards ceremony was held at the Siam Niramit complex in the heart of Bangkok city. Ritesh Deshmukh, Urmila Matondkar and Boman Irani hosted the show.
In a repeat performance Chak De India bagged the Best Film Award. Superstar Shahrukh Khan won the Best Actor award and Shimit Amin got the and Best Director trophy. Kareena Kapoor was awarded the Best Actress for Jab We Met.
Other prominent awards were Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as best debutant actors and Om Shanti Om, which won a number of technical awards. Viveik Oberoi got the award for the best Negative Role for Shootout at Lokhandwala.
Not to be left behind was Akshay Kumar who got a special award from Thailand. AR Rahman was awarded for Outstanding Achievement by an Indian in International Cinema. Shyam Benegal and Mumtaz, won lifetime achievement awards. Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif were adjudged the style icons. Neil Nitin Mukesh was awarded the Fresh Face of the year.
