Pakistan won the toss and choose to bat first. They lost Kamran Akmal when the score was 34. There after a massive 205 runs partnership between Salman Butt and Younis Khan saw Pakistan reach a very dominating position. Salman Butt made 129 and Younis Khan scored 108. Pakistan put up a dominating total of 315.

India lost Virender Sehwag when the score was 8. Gautam Gambhir and R Sharma made steady contributions of 40 and 24. Y Pathan hit some good shots in his knock of 25. Yuvraj Singh made a fine 56. The wicket of Yuvraj Singh eventually proved to be the turning point. Irfan Pathan and MS Dhoni put up a fantastic fight back to take India within striking distance of victory. India were all out for 290. Pakistan won the match by 25 runs. Younis Khan was the Player of the Match and Salman Butt was the player of the series.
