In what could be a major breakthrough in the Arushi Murder Case, the CBI has said that Krishna has confessed of involvement in the murder. However the nature of involvement was not specified. The CBI made the claim before the designated court of Sapna Mishra under Section 161 of the CrPC. This kind of claim is considered to be normally weak during the trial and does not stand as evidence.

The court granted CBI custody of Krishna for six days. The CBI had asked for his custody for eleven days. Meanwhile, CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar told reporters that an “article” seized from the residence of Rajkumar, domestic help of Durranis, was being forensically examined.

Kumar also said that a Khukri had been seized from the residence of Krishna on June 13. “We are trying to examine it as to whether it was used in the murder or not,” he said. However the claim of CBI has immediately been contested by Krishna’s lawyer F C Sharma who said that Krishna had not made any confessional statement before the CBI.
