Vodafone leads the iPhone Race
The race for selling iPhones has began in the right earnest. Vodafone took the lead and announced the partnership with Apple to market iPhones in India. Not to be left behind in the race Airtel made an announcement within a few days regarding a tie up with Apple.
Vodafone India has commenced registering the names of interested customers for the Apple iPhone. The launch is scheduled sometime later this year. Presently the device will support only 2G networks. Registration can be done by prospective customers online or by sending an SMS on the Vodafone network.
The government is yet to clear3G networks in the country. However both the companies have been proactively advertising 3G iPhones too. What can be construed is the phones will be initially launched to operate on 2G networks. Vodafone plans to do it by September this year.
