Actors couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $1 million as educational aid to help children affected by war in Iraq as well as United States.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has given USD 500,000 to three groups in the war-torn Iraq which will provide aid for some 5,700 children, said the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which is co-chaired by Jolie.

The aid will bring school supplies, aid refugee children and rehabilitate schools.

The foundation also gave US D 500,000 to help children in the United States who have a military parent killed in Iraq, or who are separated from a parent stationed in the country.
This aid will be channeled through the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero program, which will look after the welfare of 2500 kids.

Pitt and Jolie have been generous contributors to various social causes down the years.

Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Pitt has advocated for relief in the Darfur region of Sudan and has backed a program to help build homes for survivors of Hurricane Katrina in the United States.

The couple have four children and are also expecting twins.
