Dharna Dam is the oldest dam in Nashik District. All these days the Dam has been providing water for irrigation purposes only. Now after more than a century of its existence it is going to be used to produce power.

A US company named Watson has taken up the project. It will be executed on BOLT basis. Three Megawatt power will be produced by the project. The work on the project has already commenced and the irrigation department is considering similar projects in other Dams to improve the power situation in the district.

The district is facing a net deficit of 3500 megawatts of power. Extensive power cuts have to be resorted to which is causing great inconvenience to the people of the district. A study was carried out by the irrigation department to examine the feasibility of setting up such a project. The US company will be doing the entire funding for the project. The fructification of this project will certainly do a lot of good to the district.
