Actors Mallika Sherawat and Ranvir Shorey sparkle in their new movie Ugly Aur Pagli directed by debutant Sachin Khot.

Sachin Khot’s foray into the entertainment scene started with the super successful serial Shanti starring Mandira Bedi on the small screen. He has other serials to his credit. But Ugly Aur Pagli is his maiden venture into Bollywood movies.

The onscreen chemistry of the lead pair is excellent according to Sachin Khot. “ I think they shared a brilliant rapport, they were too natural and trust me, the rapport and chemistry which you see between both of them on screen is exactly how they were on the sets also. Lots of Masti, fun.”, says Sachin.

This romantic comedy has been given a fresh treatment according to Sachin.. “The concept is an age old syndrome that opposites attract each other; we just took a realistic take – today’s 21st century girl is more dominating in the relationship. The girl is always more aggressive and very dominating in the relationship. Being the 21st century film, in most of the love stories we see males leading the relationship with lots of mushiness but in this I have tried something different and interesting. In this story woman dominates the relationship and we have removed the mushiness out of the love story.”

The slogan 99 slaps and 1 kiss that accompanies the movie is interesting. Apparently, Mallika Sherawat trained Ranvir Shorey on how to receive 99 slaps. Says Sachin,” As this is a female dominated love story with a dash of aggressiveness to it Ranvir was supposed to get slapped by Mallika almost 99 times throughout the film. I think no actor in this film industry would have done this role, which Ranvir did.”

The movie has interesting cameos by yesteryear actress Zeenat Aman and VJ Gaurav, VJ Vishal Malhotra and Manish Anand who play Ranvir’s friends in the film Ranvir Shorey has apparently done a great job, braving 99 slaps and even wearing a skirt for one of the scenes. In all, the lead pair has infused the movie with great chemistry of their own.
