The Corporation had announced about a fortnight earlier that a Committee of Enquiry will be constituted to enquire into the scam of purchasing ladders for the Fire Fighting Department. However no action has been taken till date on the subject. The Cooperators spent more than two hours debating the issue.

The Fire Fighting Department has purchased specialized fire fighting equipment which comprises of Ladders which are of 33 meters height from a foreign company. It is learnt that similar equipment has been supplied in Mumbai at a much cheaper rate.

Another important issue is that Nashik does not have such high rise buildings which warrant ladders of 33 meters height mounted on Volvo Chasis. The Corporators have questioned as to why this equipment has been purchased in the first place if it was not required in Nashik city. They also alleged that some people had links with the suppliers. It is high time for the formulation of the Enquiry Committee.
