Twenty percent cut in Water Supply
Nashik. Scanty rainfall in the district has become a matter of serious concern to the district administration. This monsoon the rainfall have been very irregular. It is already the mid of July but the district has not received even 25 percent rainfall of the season.
The District administration has taken a note of the matter and is gearing up for a draught like situation in the district. The District Commissioner, Mr S Chokhalingam, has issued orders to restrict the water supply by twenty percent in order to conserve water.
The dams in the district are partially filled due to the lack of rain. There was a conference in the District Collector’s office to discuss the situation. The administration is considering the requisition of water tankers should the situation not improve by 31 July 2008.
There is also a proposal to purchase five tanks of 15000 liters to make drinking water available. In addition to the water shortage cattle fodder is also in short supply. An assessment is being made to overcome this shortage.
