US Video Game Industry sales on rise
After the huge success of the E3 Conference there are indicators of the gaming market in the US growing exponentially. Sops being offered by Microsoft as well as Sony and the drop in prices of gaming consoles announced by both the companies are likely to boost sales in the days ahead.
Metal Gear Solid 4 has emerged as the top selling game in the US for the month of June 2008. Consequently the number of PlaysStation 3 units sold have also reported a dramatic increase.
“Exclusive content usually fuels hardware system purchases and PS3 sales certainly reflect the impact of Metal Gear Solid 4,” NPD analyst Anita Frazer has written in her report on PS3 sales. However for the month of June 2008 Ninetendo has reported a minor drop in sales of Wii when compared to the previous month.
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has reported a 17.8 percent increase in sales. The overall sales of the video game industry are reported to be $ 8.3 Billion for the first half of the year which is a phenomenal rise when compared to the previous year. A point of interest is this rise is in the backdrop of a sluggish economy. This augurs well for the gaming industry.
