Microsoft may have won the psychological edge after the E3 conference. But facts and figures show that Nintendo is leading the sales numbers. Sales figures that have been consolidated for March had also show Nintendo to be the winner.

NPD – the retail market research firm has figures as per which 666,000 units of Wii were sold in the month of June. For the same period Sony sold 405,500 units of the PlayStation 3, and Microsoft sold 219,800 units of Xbox 360. However the Nintendo DS sold 783,000 units beating all its rivals.

Apparently it appears that the gamers in the US are more attached to Wii. The reason is it is easy to play. Launched as late as 2006, the Nintendo Wii has won the hearts of the gamers. They sales have surpassed the main stream gaming platforms within a matter of two years.

As reported earlier the overall sales of the gaming industry have risen by around 36 percent, which depicts healthy growth.
