Mumbai facing outbreak of Malaria
Mumbai is facing the specter of a Malaria outbreak. If you consider the statistics they are quite threatening. Nine persons have died in the last six days, which includes four deaths in the last 24 hours.
The Civic Executive Officer Dr J Thanekar has found 100 mosquito breeding spots in the wards of F South and F North in his survey on Saturday morning. Dr J Thanekar said, “We are a bit worried about malaria..”
Dr Thanekar reported that there is large water stagnation in various construction sites. The Corporators are breathing down the neck of the civil administration for not having taken adequate steps. 26 persons have reportedly lost their lives due to malaria in the last 48 days.
Some of the Malaria victims include three men in their fifties from Borivali, Kandivali and Worli. and a 75 year old woman from Parel. The Health department is watching further developments anxiously.
