Terror Strikes Bangalore
Bangalore was at the receiving end of terrorism today. Six serial blasts rocked the IT Capital of India. When reports last came in the toll stood at two killed and six wounded. The police have described the blasts as low intensity.
One woman was killed at a bus stop at Madivala on the Bangalore-Hosur road. Her husband is seriously injured. Soon after 1330 serial blasts took place at Panthrapalya, Audugodi and Vittal Mallya Road. The Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said that a timer device had been used in some of the blasts and explosives quantity was equivalent to one or two handgrenades.
The blasts spread panic in the city. Most of the shops and shopping malls shut down. Traffic in the city was thrown in disarray. The scenes of the blasts were buzzing with police activity. Sniffer dogs were pressed into action. The police have appealed to the citizens to maintain calm and order in the city.
