Situation under control in Singur
The Tata Motors company was assured by the Home Secretary of West Bengal Mr Ashok mohan Chakrabarty that the manufacturing process can go on without a hitch as there will be tight security in their car plant in Singur.
In retrospect,the Tata Motors Company built a plant last year in Singur,West Bengal for manufacturing the cheapest car that has ever been launched.An estimated 997 acres of land was acquired for building the plant. The car viz Nano would cost around only one lakh Indian rupees and it was anticipated to be marketed late this year.
But,the ongoing work faced hindrance when some farmers started protesting against their unlawful eviction.They alleged that the Government took their land forcibly.Reportedly,Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee went ahead with protest and agitation outside the project site.According to the farmers, 400 acres of land was acquired without their consent. The radical leader wants that the land should be handed back to the farmers.
According to the reports,the state officials announced that the project was going on as per the schedule and at this rate the company can meet the deadline in October,2008.Besides,the home Secretary informed that the situation is under control.As for the unlawful eviction of the farmers,the Chief Minister refuted the claim.
