Nashik. We had reported regarding the near famine like situation in the Nashik district in the month of July. Prayers were offered all over the district to the Gods for rainfall. Rationing of water had also been introduced by the NMC.

All these efforts seem to have paid off. After consistent rain the Gangapur Dam has finally started overflowing. Adequate water has accumulated in the Dam to meet the requirement of the city for almost a year. Mr Vinayak Pande, the Municipal Commissioner, offered a traditional Pooja near the Dam to thank the rain Gods.

The floods in Godavari river have marginally receded. However the floods have left behind a trail of damage. Silt has accumulated all over the place and in Ramkund in particular. Roads in the area have been damaged very severely.
