Ranbir Kapoor is here. The new Bollywood star is here. The new age Dilwale Dulhaniya proves to a “love”ly entertainer and new “Raj” of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor shines through the 2 and half hours of the Yash Chopra entertainer.

The movie refers to DDLJ in places to show how it affected “Mahi”, Minisha Lamba, who is waiting for her eternal love, Raj. Ranbir and Minisha romance through the Swiss Alps in usual Yash Chopra style. Next comes Bipasha Basu, the small town girl who is in Mumbai striving for a career. “Live in” relationships are very much the part of this new age DDLJ. And finally is Deepika Padukone, an independent thinking career oriented part time cabbie in Australia.

I saw glimpses of brilliance in Ranbir Kapoor’s acting in the super boring Sawaariya. Ranbir shone bright in the gloomy blue set. And in Bachna Ae Haseeno Ranbir Kapoor is extraordinary, carrying this movie on his shoulders with support from his three lady lucks. Minisha Lamba and Bipasha, age is catching up and showing. Deepika Padukone needs to emote, not just through her dialogue delivery. I doubt if these three limitations can be worked upon, but if we ignore this, the three ladies were good. Minisha Lamba needs a better makeup artist, she shows more wrinkles than Hema Malini or Sridevi or maybe Helen. Minisha especially was brilliant.

The second half of the movie is different, a risky move but very well executed by Ranbir. So a star is born and this movie is a must watch ! Or else you will miss the rise of the new star of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor !
