Plastic dealers make a quick buck
The monsoon season is usually very active in Nashik region. The rains commence during the month of June every year and the monsoon remains active till mid September. This year the monsoon has been unusually delayed and has now become active in the month of August.
The demand for rain-coats, umbrellas and plastic sheets peaks during June. This year the slack monsoon season had the traders worried, as there were hardly any sales thus far. However the scenario has changed with the late revival of monsoon.
The demand for rain-coats, umbrellas and plastic sheets has peaked. Traders have raised the prices due to the sudden spike in demand. Thus it is not only the poor farmers who are the beneficiaries of the rains. It is the small time plastic traders who have made a quick buck by brisk sales.
