Net PC for less than Rs 5000
We had earlier reported about the low cost computing device being developed by Indian Institute of Science. The minister of communications and IT Mr A Raja announced that the low cost device will be based on Intel’s Atom processor. It will be priced at about Rs 5,000.
Intel is participating in the “connected Indian” movement. It aims to provide an affordable, simple and easy to use device to people. The movement hopes to provide internet access through broadband and aims at bringing the power of internet to the common man.
Mr A Raja complimented the IT industry for constantly innovating and introducing competitive products like netbooks and mobile internet devices with matching connectivity. He said that bridging the digital divide was the biggest challenge for India.
