Google’s browser named Chrome was launched and was available for free download on Tuesday. The browser is streamlined and is said to have a minimalist look as it has all the controls concealed under its hood.

While the browser earned praises for its exceptional speed, it was found to have some shortcomings too. Google’s own applications, such as Gmail, supposedly didn’t function in the browser. Some reported difficulties in installing the new browser while running anti-virus software.There were other problems like inability to scroll up with the help of a TouchPad on both Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems, problems with java applets, Chrome crashes in Windows XP Professional x64 edition etc.

Google has assured that it is taking care of all these problems. The browser can be downloaded at www.google.com /chrome. It is yet to be seen whether Chrome’s good features outweigh its limitations or not.
