Google launches local search in Delhi
You the power of the Internet is only a telephone call away. Google has launched Voice Search Services in Delhi. By dialing a toll free no you can ask for the information you are searching.
Google earlier tested the pilot project for six months in Hyderabad. Now services have been launched in Delhi and the NCR region. This is how the system works. You dial the toll free telephone number 1-800-41-999-999. An IVR system (Interactive Voice Response System) asks you questions about the information you are searching. You then feed your mobile number in the IVR. A SMS is sent to your mobile with the required information.
On being tried out the system was found to be quite useful but with initial glitches. Some calls are being taken on manually by call center employees too. This service heralds a new era in the search business and integration of telephone and internet services.
