Many members of the Bollywood fraternity have united to start a fund for helping people of flood-affected regions of Bihar, which has been declared as a National Tragedy.

People who attended a special press conference were Prakash Jha, Shatrughan Sinha, Shekhar Suman, Manoj Bajpai and Neetu Chandra, along with the politician Sanjay Nirupam

Sanjay Nirupam confirmed that actor Salman Khan will perform live in a charity show to help the victims of Bihar floods. The show will be held in October, and will be organized by Wizcraft event management company at Andheri Sports Complex in suburban Mumbai.

“Salman has agreed to be a part of show of this show,” Congress politician Sanjay Nirupam said. “We will have the concert in Mumbai and the money collected from the concert will be donated to the flood victims of Bihar.”

Prakash Jha has set up a rescue and relief operation, PUNARWAAS, Flood Relief Mission, Bihar, in collaboration with PRAYAS, headed by Shatrughan Sinha, with the help of an NGO working in Bihar

Under the supervision of Prakash Jha, the actors have adopted a village called Kattaiya in the Basantpur Panchayat, which is about 40 kms from the district headquarters of Supaul. This camp will provide care for 5,000 people and give, food, clothing, healthcare, sanitation and even rehabilitation

Prakash Jha said, “It’s not the time to blame anyone but to fight with the situation to the best of ones ability. We need at least 9 crores to look after 5000 people for approximately nine months. A lot of people from the industry have come forward to help us.”

Speaking on the occasion, the actor turned politician, Shatrughan Sinha said, “We must not politicize the issue. All of us should come together and help the people of Bihar. At this moment, the people of Bihar need blankets, biscuits and mineral water. So if you can donate any of these, please donate generously according to your financial capacity. This tragedy is worse than the tsunami that hit some parts of India in 2004.”
