Large Hadron Collider Is On It’s Way To Create A Big Bang On Earth

The mysterious Big Bang that caused the universe to come into existence is about to lose all it’s charm, if scientists are to be believed. A team of scientists at Geneva have successfully commissioned Large Hadron Collider (LHC) on Wednesday last. The LHC, a giant contraption unit prepared to crush sub-atomic elements into each other at extremely high speeds, will re-create the effect of “Big Bang” on experiment basis.

The Big Bang theory, proposed by Belgian astronomer Georges Lemaitre and the phrase coined by an English astronomer Sir Fred Hoyle, satisfactorily explains the origin of universe; it states that the universe was created about 15 billion years ago due to a sudden explosion of an extremely hot and very dense primordial object. The explosion might have been triggered owing to generation of huge energy as a result of collision between some proton-like heavy particles inside the object.

The experiments with the LHC at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) will revolutionary establish relationship between matter and elementary particles. After achieving preliminary success on the high-energy proton-proton collisions in the LHC under controlled environment, scientists have categorically denied any possible disastrous effect of artificially creating Big Bang on earth. If everything goes well, a microsecond old baby universe can be created in 2009, the scientist said. According to a recently published press release, “to mimic the Big Bang, one has to collide heavy elements like lead on lead or gold on gold, which will be done next year”.

Though, the possibility of creating a baby universe on earth has generated massive curiosity amongst the mass, but the primary objective of the experiment is to study the inter-relationship amongst various fundamental forces of nature - gravitational force, electromagnetic force, strong force and weak force, the scientists said. As part of experiment, Geneva scientists are now preparing to collide big nucleus like gold or lead and thereby hoping to generate temperature of almost 200 thousand times the sun’s core temperature. “This will successfully demonstrate the creation of ‘Little Bang’ or baby universe in the laboratory.”

If the effect of Big Bang can be re-created on earth, many a puzzling question on creation of universe can be answered scientifically. And who knows, future experiment on the line of LHC will not lead to a way of cloning of universe! Let’s see what waits further.
