According to the grapevine, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is being paid Rs 6 crore for acting in Tamil Movie, Enthiram. This makes her the highest paid Indian actress.

It is said that Aishwarya agreed to act in Enthiram out of respect for co-star Rajnikanth. Aishwarya had turned down several projects with Rajnikanth due to date problems, so this time she did not want to disappoint the veteran superstar. She committed to Enthiram even though she is involved with another project, a bilingual with Mani Ratnam.

Thus no wonder that producers of Enthiram, Ayngaran International and Eros International, are willing to pay the actress such a hefty price. Happy with Aishwarya’s commitment, director Shankar has even decided to give her a break when Mani Ratnam’s film shoot starts.

At present shooting has started for a song sequence featuring Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the picturesque location of Machu Picu in Peru. Also posters publicizing Enthiram are evoking curiosity of people in Chennai with Rajnikanth in the get up of a robot.
