Aishwarya Rai to light up Mani Ratnam’s next movie
Aishwarya Rai is all set to be the heroine of the next project of ace Southern director Mani Ratnam of Dil Se, Bombay, and Guru fame. For this, she is being paired with Tamil super star Vikram.
Though the project will see Aiswarya re-uniting with hubby Abhishekh Bachchan after GURU in a Mani Ratnam flick, Abhishekh will not play her love interest. Abhishekh is two movies old with Ratnam – of Yuva, and guru. Aiswariya is also two films old with him- Iruvar and Guru.
Vikram is new to Hindi audiences except for last year’s dubbed version of Tamil hit Anniyan by the name of Aparichit. Vikram has several Tamil hits to his credit – Dhill, Gemini, Pithamagan, Dhool, Saamy and Anniyan
Vikram’s another Tamil hit ‘Sethu’ was remade in Hindi as the Salman Khan starrer Tere Naam . However, Vikram hasn’t acted in a Hindi film yet.
According to sources, Vikram has already agreed to dates for the movie. It begins shooting in September this year. He expressed his happiness to work with both Mani Ratnam and Aishwarya Rai. He considered this as an ideal launch into Bollywood.
The movie is being described as an intense love story set in contemporary times. But given the fact that Mani Ratnam is directing, the movie is expected to have some socio-political undercurrents as his past Hindi movies have had.
Ash and Abhi are also starring together in one other movie coming up- namely Sarkar Raj by Ram Gopal Verma. Industry is waiting to see how the couple can ignite the screen with some of their real life chemistry.

ah sweet! the more we get to see Ash the better!!! she is absolutely perfect! the best actress and dancer hands down! the woman bubbles over with talent…and i’m not even going to mention her insane beauty before i drop dead….
i wish she and hrithik could act more though…they’re the hottest couple ever!!!! sighs…if only they could be together in real life….
but no doubt that will absolutely rock this movie too…Ash rules!
All of mani ratnam’ s hindi movies have been low beneath his par of excellent cinema, dil se completly did not have tht intensity of suicide bomber film as it ws washed away from a love story tht all hindi audiences ar common with. Even w.yuva it ws more a love story thn political background, student politics ws weakly picturized in yuva and the gangseter ws over the top melodramatic.
Guru ws only slightly bettr thn all his hindi films so far, but still mani gave into the hindi audience in producing an item number, too many songs and instead of a turbulent relationship between an illiterate wife and business man w/all its flaws and traps, the relationship turned out to be another love story kind of stuff.
Mani ratnam is known for bringin out realism in a provkin manner yet i find tht mani in his hindi films have always been pressured by the song-dance,beauty of elaborate sets, ordinary love story tht always diverts from reality somehow w/o mani knowin abt it.
Please mani sir, get back to the provkin reality films tht you always made in tamil b.c hindi films and their audiences ar identical to peer pressure and you have to adhere to their rules of providing a “masala” film.
Its about time. Filefare and Screen awards should have given the awards to Aish. Kareen was OK but base on acting skill Aish was by far the better actor.
NAMASKAR
I AM A GREAT ADMIRER OF MANI RATNAM SIR AND I AM A GREAT ADMIRER OF MS.AISHWARYA RAI SO WHEN BOTH OF THEM ARE COMBINED I CAN SAY THE MOVIE IS GOING TO BE BOX-OFFICE.
