Apple Inc. does away with iPhone developer NDA
Apple Inc. decided not to impose the nondisclosure agreement (NDAs) on iPhone software developers as it turned out to hamper their ability to work. The decision was taken following the introduction of the first phone with Android software, an open-source operating system that lets developers make and sell programs without restriction.
While these NDAs are instrumental in protecting Appleās trade secrets, they actually restrict further development of them by creating a barrier that prevent communication among developers. The company announced that it would no longer enforce its non-disclosure agreement for the software it has released.
Apple reportedly informed that it will send developers a new agreement without an NDA which will cover released software which in turn implies that programmers who are working with unreleased test versions of new iPhone software will still be bound by an NDA.
