Akshay Kumar is on a high these days with his landing big movie roles and his upcoming release garnering high bids per territory.

Akshay Kumar’s super hit turn as a Sardar in Singh is Kinng has earned him many fans, the latest being Deepa Mehta, the director with the Hollywood connection.

According to sources, the actor will be once again seen playing the role of a sardar in Deepa’s movie. But unlike the previous time whereby Akshay played the village bumpkin, this time round the actor will be seen essaying a much more somber character.

Speaking to a news daily, Deepa Mehta said, “I’m amazed at Akshay’s excitement level. I was given to understand he’s very busy these days. In fact he is shooting in Venice where we connected. Akshay immediately agreed to do ‘Kamagatamaru’. He has also allotted immediate dates from October. How? Don’t ask me. I was completely bowled over by his enthusiasm then. Akshay had started to brush up his Hindi.”

On the home front, Akshay Kumar’s Chandni Chowk to China Town directed by Nikhil Advani has set records in remuneration bid per territory.

According to sources, the producers have quoted a whopping sum of Rs 20 crore for the distribution rights in the Bombay circuit and Rs 10 crore for Delhi–UP. As for cities like Berar and Rajasthan are concerned, it’s Rs 3 crore.

Looks like the stars are shining for Akshay Kumar, brighter than ever.
