Travolution to eliminate stopping at red light
A state of the art device that works on the Wireless Local Area Network technology, now can decipher the speed that will help the drivers to arrive at traffic lights when they are green. The gadget named ‘Travolution‘ was reportedly developed by the Technical University of Munich in ventureship with traffic technology firm GEVAS.
The device supposedly plots the position of the vehicle and after calculating the distance from the next set of traffic signals, it displays the optimum speed on a screen. Audi developed this device and holds that it will benefit the environment by cutting exhaust emissions and by improving fuel economy.
Kate Dixon of Audi UK said that if a minimum of 10% of cars in any given town were fitted with the technology, all road users would notice an improvement in traffic levels. Dixon further commented, “Obviously, if the traffic is solid then Travolution won’t assist you. But if the traffic is moving slowly then it will advise you what speed to maintain in order to avoid stopping”.
The motoring organisation reportedly said that this could be an extremely useful tool for reducing CO2 and saving motorists money. The device is anticipated to be vital in meeting European Union emissions standards. However it said that the gadget would need to be tested thoroughly in many different types of traffic conditions to ensure that it did not cause problems for other motorists.
