Best Debut Director goes to Aamir Khan
Tare Zameen Par, a directorial debut for Aamir Khan, has won him the Gallapudi Srinivas Award.
The jury members presiding over the award included actor Kamal Hassan and director Singitam Srinivasa Rao.
The film made it to the top spot from amongst 19 nominations received nationally.
Aamir Khan is scheduled to visit Chennai on August 12 to receive the award which consists of a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh and a memento.
The award is sponsored by the Gollapudi Foundation set up by the acclaimed Telugu writer Gollapudi Maruti Rao in 1998 to commemorate the accidental death of his son Srinivas during the latter’s shooting in his first film. Since its inception in 1998, the trust has been scouting for outstanding directorial efforts in feature films.
