Once again Sony under fire for its blemished laptop batteries

Sony, the Japanese digital giant, is once again under trouble for its blemished laptop batteries. If you remember, even two months ago Sony had faced with similar problem, where it had recalled over 70000 VAIO notebooks owing to wiring-system overheating problem. With the recently surfaced overheating issue of Sony batteries, Dell, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Sony, and Toshiba have recalled almost 100000 batteries from their laptops.

Sony battery problem

Forced recall of Sony batteries two times within two months period has greater ramification for Sony products in the market. Earlier also, in August 2007, Sony had problem with the DSC T5 digital cameras. Due to the frequent product crisis, Sony’s quality service is now under severe public criticism.

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission of US, these Sony made Lithium-ion batteries have higher chance of becoming overheated; thereby putting consumers under great fire and burn hazard. Primarily, these batteries were sold by Sony, HP, Dell, and Toshiba through their laptops and notebooks from mid 2004 to end of 2006 across the globe. There are also chances, that you might have purchased them separately. The commission has requested consumers to approach the manufacturer for replacing these batteries free of cost.

The faulty Sony batteries were manufactured between October 2004 and June 2005, and if you have anyone of them, it is high time that you should contact with your nearby Sony service center for further detail information. Remember, the batteries can even burst! Models of the batteries that are being currently under watch include HP A0, L0, L1, and GC units.
