Pune. The sugar factory workers will go on an indefinite strike from 31 March 2008. The have given this ultimatum in the eventuality of their demands not having been met. Earlier there was a call to commence the strike from 18 March but the same has now been extended to 31 March.

This decision was taken in a meeting held at Pune by the State Sugar Factory Workers Association. It was said that arrears to the tune of 400 Crores in the form of wages of the workers had piled up. In addition to the arrears a rise in wages had been promised but the same has not been implemented.
