After more than 40 hours there is some good news coming in from Mumbai. Some hostages were released from the Trident Hotel. The GOC in C of Southern Command of Army, Lt Gen Nobel Thamburaj in a press conference said that the encounters were in the final stages now.

In Mumbai, encounters in three places ie The Taj Mahal Hotel, The Trident Hotel and the Nariman House are still raging. Earlier in the day Mumbai witnessed para commandos of the Army, Navy and the NSG slithering down helicopters and occupying building tops. The city is still rife with rumors. There was a rumor of fresh firing in Mumbai CST railway station but fortunately it turned out to be a hoax. The stock markets have resumed functioning.

While speaking to the media some of the Marine Commandos who had returned from operations said that the terrorists were very well informed and armed. Besides large quantity of arms and ammunition a large number of Credit Cards have been recovered from the killed terrorists.
