Pune Nashik Railway to see the light of the day
After a lot of speculation the Pune Nashik Railway has finally been given the green signal. The train will be flagged off on 06 April 2008 from Nashik. The auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa which signals the beginning of the Marathi New Year has been chosen to start the train. Mr Devidas Pingle gave this information.
The train will ply from Nashik to Pune via Kalyan, Panvel and Karjat. Nashik Pune and Mumbai form a golden triangle. They are the three most important cities of Maharashtra besides Nagpur which is located in Central India. A number of students use this route for movement. There are people who have got jobs in these cities and need to commute frequently between these places.
While Nashik and Mumbai have been very well connected, Nashik and Pune were hitherto connected only by road. With the flagging off of this railway a long outstanding need of the people of Nashik will be fulfilled. It will also boost industrial activity.
