New compaq PC unveiled
The technology in optical storage has received a thumb up with the unveiling of the Compaq dc7800 desktop PC.
HP which has acquired Compaq Computers is promoting the PC as the industry first machine fitted with a SSD or Solid state hard disk. The desktop PC has a sleek form factor.
The PC is targeted at the business users, according to the company. Of late, computer brands are growing more environments conscious and the Compaq dc7800 is not an exception either. It complies with the standard of EPEAT. The SSD format hard drive increases the overall performance level and also promises better durability. The company claims that this state of the art hard drive does way with the tear and wear caused in conventional rotational hard disks.
According to the company, the consumers can expect faster boot up times, better power efficiency and shock resistance from this HD. The PC has a smaller footprint than conventional business computers and it is extremely power efficient. It will be priced around Rs 40,000.
