Jassi hosts another makeover show
Mona Singh or Jassi of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin fame on T.V., is all set to host a new reality show based on dramatic make-overs titled, ’Naya Roop, Nayi Zindagi’.
Jassi’s transformation from gawky, awkward and plain ugly dame to gorgeous, attractive high fashion model was the stuff that made Mona Singh famous and enabled the serial to top the TRP ratings.
Post Jassi, Mona Singh also dazzled viewers by winning another competition on tv‘>Sony T.V. titled Jhalak Dikhla Ja, a song and dance show and for its second season she even anchored the show.
But she has fought shy of the Saans Bahu sagas on television and has been choosy in her roles on T.V.
“My debut serial was a trend setter. Television soaps and reality shows in recent times have been done to death. I don’t want to be just any other character on television. There is no novelty left in the kind of programming that is seen in the last few years,” Mona Singh told PTI here on Monday
Speaking about her new reality show for Sony Entertainment television “Naya Roop Nayi Zindagi”, Mona Singh said it was a path-breaking show.
“It aims to give a once in a life time chance to few individuals with flawed looks, people who were scarred or maimed or have prominent birth mark, a cleft lip, victims of acid attack or explosions, a complete transformation, not just by changing their looks but also their lives,” she said
Naya Roop Nayi Zindagi is reportedly based on the popular US show Extreme Makeover where ordinary men and women undergo extreme makeovers involving plastic surgery, exercise regimes, hairdressing and wardrobe changes.
The actress says that 10 people have already been selected for the show and goes on to add that each episode opens with the person’s case history and how the entire process happened. After surgery and the recovery process, which in some cases takes several months, candidates will not be allowed to meet their family, as the show requires their transformation be a surprise to family and friends. In each episode, the viewer will witness the agony and ecstasy of the participant and the final victory.
About anchoring the show, Mona Singh said,” It was a challenging project for me and an emotional journey as well. We had difficult cases and I had to confront them. I needed to be calm and positive for the people on the show, which was not easy. The best part about the show is helping people solve their problems.”
