Mumbai Indians thrash Chennai Super Kings
Match No 36 was marked by two very important events in IPL.
The return of Sachin Tendulkar, and, the resurgence of Jayasuriya. The Mumbai Indians won the toss and put the Chennai Super Kings to bat.
Despite a shaky start the Chennai Super Kings managed to score a respectable total of 156 runs. Badrinath, 53 in 33 balls, and skipper MS Dhoni 43 not out in 35 balls were the main contributors.
Mumbai witnessed the debut of Sachin Tendulkar and Jayasuriya opening their innings. After a huge six Sachin was bowled by Joginder Sharma for 12 runs. But Jayasuriya started a deluge of sixes and went on to score an unbeaten 114 with an unbelievable 11 sixes and 9 boundaries. Uthappa kept watch at the other end. Mumbai Indians won the match by 9 wickets.
