Google’s YouTube India In Action
Indian netizens at last allowed to experience seamlessly the much publicized Google’s YouTube, the high-tech online video sharing platform, on May 7 last, when Goggle launches it’s YouTube India. Immediately after it’s launching, it saw a huge hit by the young Indian enthusiastic surfers. The tube journey was wonderful and enjoyable, they said. Now, India became the 20th country where YouTube has localized presence.
The YouTube is the integration of technology with high-speed imagination. It was first conceptualized and commissioned in 2005 by three ex-employees of Paypal. Google acquired the site in November 2006 by paying around $1.65 billion. It was a great business milestone for the Google, though they have faced a set back recently when Yahoo returned them open handed because of insufficient bidding.
Indian version of YouTube is available at www.youtube.co.in. “Google’s local edition of YouTube would certainly send noises down the competition’s spine with its localized home page plus search functions”, said the authority after launching the localized version of YouTube in India. The youtube.co.in is equipped with India specific homepage coupled with localized search modules that will allow you to have easy video navigations around your Indian tubes. With active support of the site, you can now easily create your own videos making your online presence a charismatic experience. “YouTube India will not only offer Indian users more relevant content but also provide a platform to share India’s unique and diverse culture and lifestyle with the largest online video community in the world”, said Mr. Steve Chen, chief technology officer of YouTube, on successful completion of the YouTube’s launching ceremony.
IIT Chennai has welcomed the Indian portal of YouTube, saying it will benefit students, as Google has recently reached to an agreement with the IIT’s to allow free uploading of classroom lectures. The large bandwidth and huge storage of YouTube will encourage IIT’s and students to use the virtual technology for effective dissemination of knowledge in most cost effective manner. It will help develop high-end knowledge backbone in the coming days.
