Movies Jodha Akbar and Rock on ! won big at the 15th annual Star Screen Awards on Wednesday night.

Jodha Akbar was named Best Picture. It also bagged for Ashutosh Gowariker, Best Director trophy. “This award is special to me and I do think it is important as we all worked very hard for the film” he said.

It won Best Actor trophy for Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik remembered how this role was one he nearly missed. “When Ashutosh (Gowarikar) first offered me with role I wasn’t very convinced I should it. But when I discussed the project with Suzanne, she said this role would fetch me an award. So, this award is for her, “ he said.

Best actress award went to Priyanka Chopra fro her stupendous performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. She said,” I worked very hard on Meghna Mathur’s character so I am really excited about this award. Fashion has had very few nominations so I dedicate this to the team and to Madhur Bhandarkar, my director, who showed immense faith in me.”

However the Popular award for best actor and actress went to Khiladi Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai respectively. Akshay sprang a surprise by refusing the prize and saying that Aamir Khan deserved it more for Ghajini.

The most promising debut award went to Farhan Akhtar in Rock On! and Asin Thotumkal for Ghajini.
Rock On! received two other acting awards- Best supporting actor (Arjun Rampal) and Best supporting actress (Shahana Goswami).

A R Rahman won best music award for Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na as well as best Background music for Jodha Akbar.

Tusshar Kapoor one best actor in a comic role for Golmaal Returns. He quipped,” I know the award comes for a role where I don’t say a word. But what the heck, I don’t mind being silent if the awards keep coming.”

Rock On! also won for Best Editing, Best art direction and Best cinematography.
