Aamir Khan and the entire nation felt disappointed as the moving drama, Taare Zameen Par did not make it to the Oscar final list.

But one man who was certainly aware of why the movie did not make it was Oscar Jury member and writer director Krishna Shah.

Shah, who is currently in Mumbai to conduct a screen-writing workshop said, “The film was too long, it had too many songs. That’s why it didn’t make the cut. I even wrote to Aamir and told him that.”

Talking about Slumdog Millionaire’s chances at the Oscars this year he said, “I am not allowed to talk about that.”

But he does concede that there’s a reason only a foreign filmmaker could have made a film like Slumdog Millionaire. “It takes a Danny Boyle to come and make a film like Slumdog Millionaire because we in India just want to be removed from the reality,” he said.

Indian filmmakers must heed this lesson!
