Veer shooting to resume at Amber fort
The Rajasthan High court has finally given permission for resuming the shooting of Veer at the Amber fort.
Shooting had been stalled due to a wall collapse that damaged the historical monument as well as caused injury to a crowd of onlookers gathered there.
But, a division bench of Rajasthan High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice R C Gandhi and Justice M N Bhandari, while lifting the week-long ban on the film’s shooting, asked the film’s producer Vijay Galani to make an ex gratia payment of Rs 20 lakh as compensation for the unit’s overstay at the fort.
The court also lifted its ban on media reporting the proceedings of the case that it had slapped on Wednesday. The judges withdrew the gag order after advocate Abhinav Sharma, the amicus curae in the Amber fort case, contended that the court did not have the authority to stop the common man from knowing what was happening in the courtroom.
“The producers will have to pay and they’ve been given four days, two to shoot and two to wind up,” said Abhinav Sharma, Amicus Curae in the case.
.
The crew will have to wind up the shooting within four days and pay Rupees 20 lakh as compensation to the government. This amount will be utilized to restore the fort and to give to those injured in the wall collapse.
“I’m happy that the court has made this order,” said Vijay Galani, the producer of Veer which stars Salman Khan in the lead.
The producers of film may be relieved for now but this may not last for long.
The Ministry of Culture at the Centre has taken a serious note of the damage caused to the fort’s wall and an enquiry has been ordered into the matter.
