Terminally ill Jade Goody marries Boyfriend
Star of reality show Big Brother who gained notoriety for her racist remarks against Indian Shilpa Shetty and was also later diagnosed with lethal cervical cancer, wed her boy friend Jack Tweed at a quiet ceremony in London.
Jade’s publicist and friend Max Clifford confirmed the new to the reporters at the venue saying the couple tied the knot in “an outstanding, heartrending ceremony with lots of tears and lots of laughs.”
Goody’s 21-year-old fiancé Tweed arrived at the hotel in the morning in a blue Rolls Royce while 27-year-old Jade flew in by helicopter last night. Among guests seen arriving was the BBC Crimewatch presenter Nick Ross.
The bride managed to stand for most of her vows with the help of painkillers and took a seat for the last five minutes of the ceremony, the publicist told the gathered media.
Police, media and well-wishers all gathered at the entrance to the Down Hall Country House Hotel, while a spotter plane flew overhead trailing a banner emblazoned with the couple’s names.
Goody, who has terminal cancer, arrived at the venue by helicopter on Saturday night, by which time she was in “a lot of pain”, according to Clifford.
“She had a bad evening. She was excited. She has been overdoing it,” he said.
“She needed quite a bit of medical help.” But she was in good spirits on her wedding morning.
Goody has spoken of how Tweed, 21, proposed to her shortly after doctors told her she may only have months to live
She pledged to walk down the aisle unaided in a £3,500 gown presented to her by Harrods boss Mohamed al Fayed.
The Sun newspaper reported on Friday that she had refused to wear a veil, so that guests could see how her head had been left bald by chemotherapy treatment
The star is fighting a very public battle with her disease and had caused controversy by announcing that she might let her last moments be filmed as well.
OK! magazine has bought the rights to the ceremony for £700,000, while TV station Living had already paid a reported £100,000 to show it as part of their series, Jade.
Goody stipulated that the entire amount should be passed on to her sons Bobby, five, and four-year-old Freddie.
