Melody queen and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar presented awards to brave hearts of last year’s Mumbai terror attacks in Mumbai last evening.

The awards were presented at a programme organized in memory of Lata Mangeshkar’s father, actor-singer Dinanath Mangeshkar, on his 67th death anniversary.

Mangeshkar while addressing the gathering said that she wants to sing till the last breath of her life.
“Please don’t call me old. I don’t want to get old. Till the time I am alive, I want to sing. I would try that I sing well and everyone like it. You have blessed me so much that I am singing till now and wish to sing further as well. There’s nothing in my life apart from singing. Singing is my life,” she said.

She is returning to the recording studios after a gap of five years.

Mangeshkar also presented the awards to lyrist Javed Akhtar and Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal for their contribution to Indian cinema.

Akhtar expressed happiness on receiving the award from the legendary singer.
“Several awards keep on happening everywhere. But what matters is who and which organization is giving the awards. So if we get awards from Mangeshkar family and Lata ji gave awards, its really a very big thing,” said Akhtar.

Bollywood actors Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar are among the earlier recipients of the prestigious ‘Dinanath Mangeshkar award’.
