Kavithai Gundar, the first Tamil hip hop music album, was launched by Singer-actress Shruthi Hassan on Saturday.

Produced by Studio 8 Production, the music album contains 13 songs composed by Emcee Jesz. Hansaj Saxena, CEO of Sun TV, introduced the website of the company www.studioeight.in at the event.

The album is the brainchild of AR Saravanan, who is the creative head and producer at Studio 8. His first album Vallavan was a blockbuster and he became a musical wonder in 2006. Pop sensation Neha Bhasin who was earlier part of the Viva band and has sung Tamil film songs like “Pesagiren”, is also part of the album and was present on the occasion. The album also has songs by artistes like Yogi B and others.

The website is a unique marketing tool which contains downloadable songs, online ordering, and is an interactive networking site for music lovers who can connect across the globe. Said Saravanan, “It will also help us create a bigger fan base for this genre. Fans can also give feedback about music which will help us for our next album.”

Shruti Hassan, who has her own band and is a consummate singer herself, was happy to be part of the event to promote music. She praised the technical quality and the way the whole album has been promoted to be marketed and taken to the fans via the internet.

The event featured a live performance by Emcee Jesz and Neha Bhasin, who sang “Thaniyee,” a love track in the album. Jesz also performed with MC Loga.

The CDs will hit the market on May 1st and a T shirt and Belt will be issued free with every CD.

Said Emcee Jesz, “This album connects artistes from Malaysia, India, Chennai and Mumbai.”
