Resul is doing ‘Pazhassi Raja‘, which will be his first film in his mother tongue as well as the first in south India. He will be doing the post-sound work for the film and is very excited about the project as it is an amazing film. It is also one of the very big-budget films in Malayalam cinema,” Pookutty’s manager Baiju confirmed.
The 39-year-old started his career in Bollywood in 1995 with Rajat Kapur’s Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One that never saw the light of day. It stars southern superstars Mamootty and Sarath Kumar and actresses Kanihaa and Padmapriya in the lead. The film will be released in five languages - Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, English and Hindi.
Resul Pookutty, who won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing for Slumdog Millionaire, voluntarily opted to work for the film after watching Pazhassi Raja’s post production work in Chennai. Resul is said to have been highly impressed by the film.
“For me, it is an emotional moment to be part of a M.T. Vasudevan Nair-Hariharan-Mammootty project. Right from my schooldays in Kollam, I have been seeing their films and loved Vadakkan Veeragatha. Hariharan showed me some rushes of Pazhassi Raja, which impressed me and looked well crafted, which made me take up the assignment,” Resul Pookutty was quoted as saying.
