Now LPG and CNG variants of Hyundai Accent
The popular sedan from Hyundai, the Accent has now been launched in the LPG and the CNG variants. This is a significant move by Hyundai Motors towards more eco friendly cars. The two most important factors considered by Indian users are boot space and fuel economy. The new variants seem to meet both these criteria.
The LPG variant Accent comes with a factory fitted LPG kit. The kit has been approved by the Department of Explosives for safety. The ARAI, (Automotive research Authority of India) has also given its certification to the new variants of Accent. The model also uses the ‘Torodial’ design to make full use of the boot space available. It is priced Rs 35,000 more than the petrol version.
The CNG variant is more unique with options for petrol as well as CNG. A 1.5L petrol engine with a state of art microprocessor and multi-point fuel injection has been provided. The engine delivers a 94PS of power and 12.5 kgm of torque. This results in very efficient handling. The CNG variant has a manual selector that enables the driver to switch between petrol and CNG fuel options.
It has a capacity of carrying an approximately 12kg CNG cylinder on-board. The running cost of CNG variant of Accent in the city is approximately Rs. 1.15/km or even less resulting in average savings of nearly 60-70 percent. Demand for alternate fuel models is said to be very large in south India.
