A study by McAfee has revealed that cyber criminals build websites that are based on popular search terms. Then they offer free downloads of screensavers and wallpapers that have malicious code attached to them. The attached code rests on our computer and compromises your personal information.

Katrina Kaif is one of the highest searched terms in the Internet. It has been reported that 59 percent of the screensavers downloaded from the Internet have malware attached to them.

McAfee vice-president Jeff Green says: “Like sharks smelling blood in the water, hackers will create related websites laden with adware and malware whenever a particular top increases in popularity. Unsuspecting consumers are then tricked into downloading malicious software that leads them to blindly hand over their personal assets to cyber criminals.”
