Curtains come down on IIFA awards
The curtains came down on IIFA awards in Macau yesterday with Jodha Akbar sweeping the awards.
It was a starry night in Macau as the Bollywood stars made their way on the green carpet for the India International Film Academy Awards, popularly knows as IIFA Awards.
The evening belonged to Jodhaa Akbar, which swept the awards night in the popular categories.
Hrithik Roshan got the best actor award, Ashutosh Gowariker the best director and the film Jodhaa Akbar was adjudged the best film of the year. But the best the actress trophy was bagged by Priyanka Chopra for Fashion.
In the music categories also, Jodhaa Akbar had a clean sweep with A R Rahman bagging the award for both its music and background score.
Lyricist Javed Akhtar bagged the award for best lyrics and singer Javed Ali was given the award for the best male playback singer.
Shreya Ghosal got the award for best female singer for her song Teri Ore.
To celebrate IIFA’s 10th year, special awards were announced to honour the best of the decade.
Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai were adjudged the stars of the decade. Lagaan was given the movie of the decade award, Rakesh Roshan the director of the decade and A R Rahman was adjudged the music director of the decade
