Apple pulls out App for pornography
Another instance of Apple pulling out an App for pornography has come to light.
An app called the “BeautyMeter” has been taken off the App store for allegedly showing nude pictures of a 15 year old girl.
The “BeautyMeter” permitted iPhone and iPod users to view and rate pictures submitted by users. The rating was done on body parts and clothing of the persons in the pictures. Here is a clear case of the App tricking its way into the App store. The developer initially put plain pictures and after approval introduced the nude images.
Although Apple vets each and every app instances like this are a clear indication that it is becoming more and more difficult for Apple to control the App store. In an earlier incident Apple had removed the “Hottest Girl” from the App Store for showing nude pictures.
Some developers have alleged Apple of discrimination as their apps were not approved by Apple. However apps like “BeautyMeter” and “Hottest Girl” made it to the App store. With the introduction of parental control in iPhone 3G S it is more easy to control pornography.
