Munnabhai goes to America
Munnabhai and his aide Circuit have captured our hearts in their last two outings. Now they are at it again, this time a caper involving a visit to America.
“Munnabhai Chale Amerika” will be the name of the movie and it will have the same team as it was in “Munnabhai M.B.B.S.” and “Lage Raho Munnabhai”.
The film is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani who is currently busy directing “3 Idiots” with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
Arshad Warsi who is playing the role of Circuit in the movie confirmed this news. “Munnabhai Chale Amerika‘ will go on the floors next year and we’ll start shooting then onwards,” he said.
The film was withheld after Sanjay Dutt, who is playing title role of Munna, was convicted for illegal possession of arms in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts. But at present, the actor is out on a bail.
Arshad aka Circuit has got a boost in his career after “Munnabhai M.B.B.S.” and “Lage Raho Munnabhai”. After the success of the Munnabhai series, Arshad has mostly been seen in comic flicks like “Golamaal Returns”, “Sunday”, “Dhamaal” and “Golmaal: Fun Unlimited”.
His on-screen chemistry with Sanju baba is fabulous. About Sanjay Dutt, he asserted, “Sanju is a zero complex guy…He is also not insecure like other actors who’d get other actors’ scenes chopped to keep their own part. It’s just too cool working with him and that is why our comic timing and everything match.”
“I certainly want to convey a social message, but without compromising on entertainment,” Hirani asserts. But this does not take any thing away from the director who is all set to complete the hat-trick with Munnabhai Chale Amerika.
“The film will be a comment on the East-West divide and how each is perceived.” While Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi will take the story forward, Hirani plans to cast an American actress for the female lead.
